Demophon

Demophon (or Demophoon) was a son of Phaedra and Theseus, and was himself a king of Athens for some time after his father’s death. He fought off the attacks of Eurystheus on Athens (although only through the noble self-sacrifice of the virgin, Macaria). He also fought in the Trojan War and was one of those warriors in the Trojan Horse which led to the Greek victory. On his journey home from the Trojan War, he married Phyllis, daughter of Lycurgus, King of Thrace, and they had a son named Oxyntes. However, Demophon left Phyllis behind when he returned to Athens and, by one version, she killed herself when he failed to return for her, or, by another, she caused Demophon to fall on his sword and die.
