Gilgamesh

In Mesopotamian myth, Gilgamesh (also known as Bilgames in the earliest texts) was the son of the Sumerian king Lugalbanda and the minor goddess Ninsun (also called Rimat Ninsun). He was described as two-thirds god and one-third human and was credited with superhuman strength and bravery. He was the fifth king of the city of Uruk, and was responsible for building a great city wall to defend his people from external threats. Accompanied by his constant friend, the mighty wild-man Enkidu, he had many adventures, including the killing of the Bull of Heaven and the demon Humbaba. After Enkidu’s death, he journeyed to the ends of the Earth and beyond, seeking the secret of eternal life.
