Hermione

Hermione was the only daughter of King Menelaus of Sparta and Helen, although she was largely raised by her aunt, Clytemnestra. She was betrothed by her grandfather Tyndareus to her cousin Orestes but, on the battlefield of Troy, her father also promised her to Achilles’s son, Neoptolemus. After the War, Neoptolemus claimed Hermione and took her back to his homeland in Epirus. However, after a conflict arose with Neoptolemus’ concubine Andromache, Hermione fled from Epirus with her cousin Orestes, who slew Neoptolemus. They were married and, with Orestes, she became queen of all of the Peloponnese.
