Ion

Ion was the illegitimate child of Creusa and the god Apollo. He was abandoned as a baby, but Apollo asked Hermes to save him and take him to be raised by a priestess of the Delphic Oracle. Years later, Creusa’s wife Xuthus was told by the oracle that the first person he met when leaving the oracle would be his son, and when this person turned out to be Ion himself, Xuthus adopted him. Eventually, Creusa found out that Ion was in fact her own child. Ion went on to found a primary tribe of Greece, the Ionians, on the coast of Anatolia and nearby islands.
