Polyxena

Polyxena was the youngest daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy. She received the attentions of the Greek hero Achilles (despite his having killed her brothers Hector and Troilus), who found her calmness and wisdom a comfort, particularly after the death of his best friend, Patroclus, and who even confided his own vulnerability to her. According to some sources, Polyxena committed suicide after Achilles’ death, but a better-known version has her being sacrificed by Achilles’ son Neoptolemus at the end of the Trojan War in order to placate the restless ghost of the dead Achilles and thereby allow the Greeks to sail away home.
