Rhegion
Rhegion, or in Latin Rhegium, was an ancient city at the "toe" of Italy in the region called Calabria, but the city is now called Reggio. The Strait of Messina separated this end of Italy from Sicily, and opposite to Rhegion was a city called Messina. The Stait of Messina was said to be the place of the monster Scylla and Charybdis.
Rhegion was the place where Heracles lost one of the bulls, trying to complete the 10th labour - to fetch the cattle of Geryon. The bull jumped into the water, and swam across the Strait of Messina to Sicily.
