Antigone

Antigone was the daughter of the accidentally incestuous marriage between King Oedipus of Thebes and his own mother Jocasta (she is thus also Oedipus' sister). After Oedipus' banishment and death, Antigone had to struggle against her ruthless uncle Creon. She defied Creon by giving a respectable burial for her brother Polynices, after his death in Thebes' civil war, even though he was a traitor to Thebes. Both Antigone and her lover Haemon (Creon's son), killed themselves rather than submit to Creon's tyranny.
