Hippolytus
Hippolytus was the son of Theseus and the Amazon warrior Hippolyta (or another Amazon, Antiope, in some versions). Theseus' second wife, Phaedra, (Hippolytus' stepmother) fell in love with him and, when he spurned her advances, Phaedra convinced Theseus that Hippolytus had raped her. The infuriated Theseus cursed Hippolytus, resulting in his horses being attacked by a sea monster sent by Poseidon, dragging the innocent Hippolytus to his death.
