Ismene
Ismene was a daughter of King Oedipus and Queen Jocasta of Thebes, and sister of Antigone, Eteocles and Polynices. In the aftermath of the Theban civil war, Ismene served as the compassionate but rational and prudent counterpart to her headstrong sister Antigone, who insisted on a respectable burial for her brother Polynices, against the express wishes of her uncle Creon. However, she was willing to stand up with her sister once she was caught, and even tried to take the blame on herself.
