Pylades
Pylades was the son of King Strophius of Phocis and Anaxibia (the daughter of Atreus and sister of Agamemnon and Menelaus). As a boy, he became best friends with Orestes, who had been sent to Phocis for safety during his mother Clytemnestra's affair with Aegisthus, and who was raised with him like a brother. Pylades played a major role in Orestes' quest to avenge his father Agamemnon's murder by killing Clytemnestra and Aegisthus. On his return to his homeland, Pylades was exiled by his father for his part in the crime and he went back once again to Orestes' side. He was later involved in Orestes' plan to kidnap Menelaus' daughter Hermione and to rescue Orestes' sister Iphigenia from her bondage in Tauris. In some stories, Pylades married Orestes' other sister, Electra.
