Firbolgs
The Firbolgs were the fourth mythological race of people who settled in Ireland, according to the Lebor Gabala (Book of Invasions).
Like the Tuatha de Danann, the Firbolgs were descendants of Nemed, the third group of people who settled in Ireland prior to the Firbolgs themselves; they were known as the Nemedians.
When the Nemedians were driven out of Ireland by the Fomorians, Nemed's 3 sons - Fergus Lethderg, Iarbonel and Starn - became leaders of 3 separate clans. Fergus Lethderg migrated to the British Isle, and the isle was named Britain, after Fergus' son, Britain Máel. The Tuatha de Danann were descendants of Iarbonel's son, Béothach; Béothach led his clan to somewhere in northern Europe. While the Firbolgs were descendants of Starn who migrated to Greece with his clan.
The Firbolgs, the descendants of Nemed, returned to Ireland 11 generations after Starn. They occupied the whole of Ireland for 37 years. The Firbolgs were forced to occupy what was then the province of Connacht, while the Tuatha de Danann had the rest of Ireland after the first battle of Maige Tuired.
