Druids
In Celtic society in the ancient world, the tribal communities were divided into various classes. Above the common people such as the peasants and the artisans, there were the warrior classes, and then the ruling classes such as the kings or the chieftains, who were above the rest. But there was another class of people who also enjoyed a very status. They were known as the druids.
This page covers both historical and mythical accounts of these learned men and women. The first link contains background on the origin of the druids in ancient Gaul and Britain, as well as their place in Celtic society.
The second section has a list of articles on some of the mythical characters in Irish and Welsh literature. The characters are not only druids, but there are also articles about bards.
