Aeolus
Keeper of the winds. Aeolus (Αἴολος) was the son of Hippotas. Aeolus was the king of the island Aeolia. It was Zeus who gave Aeolus the duties of the winds.
Aeolus had a famous guest on his island and gave Odysseus a gift: a bag containing all of the strong winds. Aeolus told the hero not to open the bag.
The other gods of winds were: the north wind Boreas (Roman Aquilo); the west wind Zephyrus (Roman Caurus, Favonius); the south wind Notus (Roman Auster); and the east wind Eurus (Roman Argestes).
